Families, I hope this email finds you all safe, happy and well! I do not know about you, but today sure gave us a taste of what is to come... warm spring air and sunshine! It was such a beautiful day and just was I needed. My family and I stayed out until it was too dark to play. My kids loved every minute of it! This week, in your learning activities, you will be using three different websites. All of the links can be found on the classroom webpage or through the links provided on the learning calendar. You will use Dreambox to complete at least 5 lessons, explore Mrs. Kulik and Mrs. Garlich’s website, and use a new website Abdo for your reading assignments! Check out the learning calendar and PLEASE let me know if you have any questions or concerns. This week, we will have our classroom Zoom meeting on Wednesday morning at 10am. Dear Families, As many of you, I am still processing the heavy news we received last Thursday. Knowing we will not return to school to finish out the 2019-2020 school year has made this situation much more real than it has been these last three weeks. I am so disappointed that we will not return to the classroom together this year, however, we can continue our learning and community building through our Zoom meetings and participation in our Distance Learning activities. I have LOVED all of the emails and text messages I have received with pictures of things that are going on within your families- I will start to post these on our class website. I think the kids will look forward to seeing new pictures added. This week, we are going to be using SuperScience as our main source for our Language Arts activities- have fun with these. I know Mrs. G, Mr. B, and myself had fun planning these activities for you. In addition to Language Arts, we will be continuing with Dreambox lessons. My goal is to have the kids complete ATLEAST 5 lessons this week- please push your child to meet this goal. As we have in the past weeks, we will continue to submit work through O365 OneNote. Also, please do not forget to log your reading on your reading log located in your OneNote notebook online under the Homework tab. If you are struggling with this, please use the document below for your child to type their responses, and email back to me. Either way will work! As always, please feel free to call, text, or email at any time! You will notice that due to the shortened week, 3rd grade teachers, and several others, have changed their office hours. Even though we have “set hours,” I am usually very quick to respond unless it is a crazy day with my littles (today was one of those days… thank goodness it is almost bedtime for these sweeties.) Our next Zoom session will be this week on Thursday, April 16th. Please look for the invite below. We will talk about our science activities and spend time chatting about whatever else the kids decide. This meeting will not be nearly as long as last weeks J I love allowing the kids time to talk because they are missing their friends so much! However, please know, you can set up Zoom sessions for your kids and their friends, too. Finally, Please join one of our Math Interventionists, Mrs. Garlich, for a math lesson tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14th at 11:30. You will need some scratch paper and a pencil (or any writing utensil will do!) To join our meeting here is our personalized Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/285145356?pwd=YkFWalhCUC82OHZHOFc4UXluSjBtQT09 Meeting ID: 285 145 356 Password: 018569 This lesson will be recorded and uploaded to the Valley Park Math Website for those who are unable to attend! I hope this letter is finding you happy, healthy and safe. Best, Paige Overman Paige Overman is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Dear Families, I hope this past week has found you all to be happy, healthy and safe! I'm not sure how you are feeling about distance learning as we enter into week three, but I sure am missing our routines and most of all, the kids!! This week's ELA lessons will be structured the same way you saw last week- all activities will be focused around a fiction story from Scholastic Storyworks Jr. titled, Enemy Pie. In addition to ELA being structured the same, Math will continue to be the same. Students are asked to complete ATLEAST one Dreambox lesson, with the goal being 3-5 lessons each week. As an additional learning activity, we have included science as an OPTION. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, remember these activities and structures are not meant to be stressful to you. If you find that things are not working well, please reach out to me! I am here to help! All assignments for ELA will be submitted via OneNote, as they were last week. . I have attached a quick video (in progress...) of where to go once you are in OneNote. All students have received an invitation through their email address. The students' email address is their graduation year, 29, with their first initial, and last name. For example, if I were a third grade student, my email would be [email protected]. All students passwords should be Hawks followed by their lunch pin. This week, we will Zoom on Tuesday at 6:30. Hopefully this is late enough that it will not interfere with dinner, but early enough to not push bed times back. Dear Families, I hope last week went well for all of you. When I spoke with many of you, you expressed a feeling of relief. While awaiting the unknown of distance learning, you were not sure of what to expect To be honest, I wasn't sure of what to expect either.. I hope as we have completed our first week, you found it to be manageable for your child as well as yourself. Our distance learning is not meant to be stressful, as we know you already have so many things going on at home during this time of uncertainty. Please review the learning calendar for Week 2 of Distance Learning. If you have any questions, please reach out via email, or call/text my TextNow number at 314-492-4094. This week, in our distance learning, the big project will be ELA. We are going to keep math simple with completion of just 3-5 dreambox lessons. In ELA, you will use the March/April edition of Storyworks Jr. to read an article titled, "Attack from Outer Space." With this article, you will complete 3 learning activities- you will find the directions in the learning calendar. In addition to this activity, you will follow the link below titled, "3rd Grade Online Learning Notebook ." With this link, you will need to use your Office356 account to login. Here, you will find our NEW 3rd Grade Online Learning Notebook in OneNote.
I wish you all a happy and healthy week! Sincerely, Mrs. Overman Scholastic Storyworks Jr. website password:vphawks 3rd Grade Online Learning Notebook ****if you end up needing a password for our online notebook it is 1234

Dear Families, First, and foremost, we are sincerely missing each of our students during this unsettling time. We hope this letter finds you and your family healthy and happy as you get to enjoy time together as a family. As we begin this new learning journey together, please be open and patient with us, as we are exploring new ways to engage you and your children through learning. We are excited about this opportunity; however, this distance learning never replaces our daily face-to- face interactions with your children. We are hoping these activities will find your child to be engaged and find structure within their days. During this time, much of our learning, will be reviewing what we have learned in the classroom. Each Monday, we will be introducing three activities in the areas of Math and Language Arts that can be completed at your convenience throughout the week. We will attach a Learning Schedule that will provide specific directions for each activity. Reading: Our goal for this week is to explore online reading websites that are used within the district. We will be using these websites in our learning activities for the days to come. Math: Our goal for this week is to focus on using Dreambox at home. We want you to complete 3-5 lessons before Sunday night. If you have questions about an activity, we will each be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-10:30am to respond back quickly to you via email. We will also be checking in weekly with each individual family to see how you are doing and what we can do to support you in this journey. However, if you have a need of any kind, please don’t hesitate to email us at any time. *Another way to contact me is via my TextNow number. This will go directly to my phone- 314-492-4094 Points of contact could be via Zoom, email, Infinite Campus, or via the TextNow app. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reach out from our personal cell phones. Each point of contact will be dependent upon teacher availability and family need. Many thanks, The 3rd Grade Team P.S.- Please don't forget to follow the Hawk Way at home! See the "Coronavirus Version" below. As you catch yourself, or family members, following the Hawk Way, snap a picture and send them my way. We can post them to our website to add a little extra happiness to our days!
